AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, and a number of other Internet email providers include Spam email blocking filters. These filters have the potential to delay or delete any email you send to your prospects without the delivery to you of return undeliverable messages. As Internet services Spam guards increase with other email providers, it is expected that these issues will increase.
AVV Web Control has uncovered the following triggers for email blocking:
Broadcast emails may be blocked – Any time a large amount of emails from the same source are received, filters are likely to tag that message as Spam and delete it.
To avoid this occurrence,
AVV has adopted a 24-hour “trickle out” delivery window for all broadcast
emails. Please take this delivery time into consideration when sending
time sensitive email broadcasts.
Email subject
lines with specific content are likely to be blocked – When creating
the subject line, avoid using words or phrases that are likely to denote
Spam, such as: “!”, “$”, “Free”, “Offer”, “One Time”, “Please Read”, “Win”,
“Urgent”.
Email message body with specific content are likely to be blocked – When creating the text of your message, avoid using words or phrases that are likely to denote Spam, such as: “WORDS ALL IN CAPS”, “Spam”, “****”, “Act Now”, “Amazing Stuff”, “Custom Quote”, “Free Consultation”, “Free Quote”, “Limited Time Offer”, “Opt-In”, “Received this email because”, “Satisfaction Guaranteed”.
Email message
body with 100% HTML is likely to be blocked – When creating the
text of your message, do not use all HTML. The
message must contain text to not be flagged as Spam.
Email message body with IP address web links is likely to be blocked – When creating the text of your message, verify that your web links use the domain name instead of an IP address. An example would be to use http://webcontrol.avv.com/link instead of http://63.146.174.141/link.
Please remember that these are some general guidelines that many Spam filters have in common. This list is by no means exhaustive and does not provide a 100% guarantee that a filter will not tag your message as Spam.
